Submission information:

The requirements regarding formalities, form and content of the Dean’s competition essay and the way of submitting it are the same as the requirements set out in 5/2008 and 1/2014 Dean’s Order concerning the thesis.

The prerequisites for submitting a students’ scientific activity (TDK) as a Dean’s essay are the fulfilment of one of the following three points:

• The student defended the topic and results of the given scientific research as a thesis, during which the opponent’s evaluation and the defense both ended in excellent (5) mark.
• The student achieved first, second or third place at the Faculty Scientific Students’ Association Conference by presenting the topic and results of the given scientific research.
• The student presented the topic and results of the given scientific research in a first author’s publication published in an international scientific journal classified with an impact factor as follows:
• In a scientific journal classified with an international impact factor or as a presenter at a scientific conference listed with an international impact factor with a referenced abstract.

Evaluation process:

The existence of the formal and other conditions of the submitted entry specified in 5/2008 and 1/2014 Dean’s Order will be verified by the Registrar’s Office.

Entries will be evaluated by two opponents invited by the Dean’s Representative for Research and Quality Management. One of the opponents’ primary task is to consider the research methodology and biostatistical standards of the essay.

Opponents will evaluate the entry within 2 weeks of receipt. If either of the two evaluators does not recommend acceptance as Dean’s competition essay, the submitted material will be rejected as an unsuccessful application.

Awarding:

Out of all the Dean’s competition essays submitted, the number of applications corresponding to 1% of the number of active students graduating in the given academic year by specializations, but at least one person, may be accepted as a winning application.

A student whose Dean's competition essay is accepted and becomes the winning application will receive an award commensurate with the first-place award of the Faculty's Scientific Students’ Association Conference. The results of the competition will be announced at the opening ceremonies of the 2020/2021 academic year.

The student is obliged to submit electronically:

• a cover letter containing
  • the name of the applicant,
  • name of specialization,
  • Neptune code
  • itemized list of submitted materials,
  • and (if any) placement of (O)TDK (National SSC),
  • (if any) a copy of the first author's publication published in an international journal with an impact factor
• abstract of the Dean's competition essay in word format (for essays prepared based on Dean's instruction No. 5/2008)
• abstract of the Dean's competition essay in pdf format (in case of applications prepared based on the Dean's instruction No. 5/2008)
• Dean's competition essay in word format
• Dean's competition essay in pdf format
