Restriction on free movement

31 march 2020 Hírek Faculty news

A restriction on free movement will be imposed on the entire territory of Hungary between March 28 and April 11. People can only leave their homes for work and basic needs.

Groceries, pharmacies, markets and drugstores can be visited. However, those who are above the age of 65 are only allowed to visit these places between 9:00 and 12:00, while others are prohibited to do so during this timeframe.

In public places, a distance of one and a half meter should be kept (as opposed to the previously recommended one-meter distance).

  • Leaving the house can happen e.g. due to taking children to schools where employees on duty are taking care of pupils in groups of 5;
  • Local governments have assigned kindergartens and it is possible to visit them, as well;
  • You are allowed to leave the house, but people must keep a distance between each other.

It is a violation of rules to fail to comply with this regulation. The police must help people abide by the rules, not enforce them. However, if needed, a fine of up to 5,000 to 500,000 HUF can be imposed.
