Bridgeport report

21 MARCH 2019 Hírek Erasmus

After its big success last year, the Pre-Summer School has been organized for the students of University of Bridgeport again. The program between 11th and 14th March contained professional, cultural and free time acitivites as well. Our guests had the opportunity to get to know the different instituitions of University of Pécs, the differencies between the health care system of Hungary and the USA, the history and treasures of Pécs, the Hungarian wine and gastronomy and of course the Hungarian and international students of Faculty of Health Sciences.

Within the frames of the professional programs the group visited different clinics of UP, the Szentágothai Research Center and the Babits Secondary School. During the clinical and institutional visits, students got useful professional information they can use later in their career. Thanks to the kind and open welcome in the institutions, the visits gave real professional experiences to the students. In Babits Secondary School, Bridgeport students held interactive presentations about health and prevention to the pupils. Furthermore, they participated in theoretical lectures held by our professors and lecturers. During these lectures the group got an insight into the Hungarian healthcare situation and system which is different from the USA system.

On a roundtable meeting, students of University of Bridgeport and our Faculty exchanged their experiences in different healthcare related topics. The success of this meeting based on the international environment where students came from – they shared their information from different countries worldwide.

During the cultural and free time activities, the group visited the beautiful building of Episcopal Palace, got to know the spirit of Hungarian wines, explored the unique plants from all over the world in the Botanical Garden of UP and discovered the Hungarian gastronomy.

The program gave unforgettable memories to both the students of University of Bridgeport and Faculty of Health Sciences.
