CALL FOR PROPOSALS

Today the Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences of the University of Pécs invites Dean’s applications as follows:

Information on the application:
The formal and content requirements and the method of submission of the dean's application are identical to the requirements for the thesis as specified in the Dean's Instruction 5/2008 and 1/2014.

Deadline for submission: 19 May 2023 (Friday) 12 noon 

Method of submission: the application and all the necessary documents must be sent electronically (scanned) to the Faculty's Department of Studies at info@etk.pte.hu. In the subject field please write: "Dean's Application Competition".

The student have to submit electronically:

1. a cover letter: 
   1. the name of the applicant,
   2. the name of the course/subject,
   3. Neptun code,
   4. a detailed list of the materials submitted,
   5. which pre-condition you wish to apply for the Dean's applicaton?
2. (if available) the (O)TDK placement certifying document and (if available) a copy of the first author's publication in an international journal with impact factor
3. the abstract of the dean's application form in word format (for applications prepared in accordance with Dean's Instruction No 5/2008)
4. the abstract of the Dean's application form in pdf format (for applications prepared in accordance with Dean's Instruction No 5/2008)
5. the dean's application form in word format
6. the dean's application form in pdf format

One of the following three points must be fulfilled before a student can submit a TDK as a dean's application form:

• The student has defended his/her scientific research topic and results as a thesis, in which both the opponent’s rating and the defence ended in excellent results.
• The student has achieved first, second or third place in the Faculty's Scientific Student Conference for the presentation of the research topic and results.
• The student has presented his/her scientific research topic and results in a first-authored publication in an international journal with impact factor in the given topic as follows: in an international impact factor rated scientific journal, or as a presenter at an international impact factor rated scientific conference with a citable abstract.

Evaluation procedure:

The Department of Studies checks the formal and other requirements of the student's scientific work submitted in the framework of the Dean's application competition, as defined in Dean's Instruction 5/2008 and 1/2014.
The papers will be evaluated by two opponents appointed by the Dean of the Faculty. The primary task of one of the opponents is to assess the methodological and biostatistical quality of the research proposal.

The opponents will evaluate the applications within 2 weeks.  If either of the two opponents does not recommend acceptance as a dean's proposal, the submission will be rejected as an unsuccessful application form.

Award:

Among the student research proposals submitted as a dean's application, a number of application forms corresponding to 1% of the number of active students graduating in the current academic year, but at least one student per degree programme, may be accepted as winning proposals.

A student who submits a winning application form accepted as a Dean's proposal will receive a prize equivalent to the first place prize of the Faculty Scientific Student Council.
The results of the competition will be announced electronically by 23 June 2023 and the winners will receive their certificates of recognition at a Diploma Award Ceremony on 30 June 2023.
